- African Mahogany Quarter Sawn
Product Description
The wood is usually a light pinkish-brown when freshly cut, darkening on exposure to a deep reddish color, often with a purple cast. The grain can be straight, but is typically interlocked, showing a striped or ropey figure on quartersawn surfaces. Crotch and swirl figures are often present. The texture is variable, often moderately course, with a high, golden luster. The sapwood, not always distinct from the heartwood, is creamy-white to yellowish.
