The narrow sapwood is whitish-to reddish-brown, sometimes tending to creamy pink. American Cherry has a fine, closed grain smooth texture and a rich satiny luster. It can be round with dark wavy streaks. Quartersawn Cherry shows beautiful and consistent grain.
